| | I've tasted these coffee cakes and they're every bit as good as they look - sweet and scrumptious. Too good - one slice leads to another!

The History of Flavored Coffee
Coffee, specifically Arabica coffee, was initially discovered in Ethiopia and still grows wild in the Highlands. The concept of adding spices and flavorings originated in Ethiopia and is still incorporated in the coffee ceremonies there. The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a simple but beautiful tradition. Green coffee beans are roasted in a pan over a fire or hot stove. The freshly roasted beans are then ground between stones and spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and citrus rinds may be added to the coffee, which brews in hot water and is served in tiny cups.
