Jack Downey swung open the doors to Philadelphia based Downey's Restaurant over 25 years ago, started serving Irish fare and his wife's Irish whiskey cakes for dessert – and does so to this day. We first heard about Downey’s Irish Whiskey Cakes over an early Christmas morning coffee with friends a few years ago. Our friend, Joe, an expert on everything Irish – especially Irish food and whiskey – told us that if we really wanted to find great coffee cakes with great traditions we had to try Downey’s Irish Whiskey cakes.
