What is the definition of coffee cake?
Coffeecake, according to Webster's New Word Dictionary of the Culinary Arts is "a sweet, leavened bread-like cake usually flavored with nuts, fruit or spices and topped with frosting, glaze or streusel, traditionally served for breakfast or brunch." According to Elizabeth Alston in Tea Breads and Coffeecakes coffeecakes are, "informal, homey baked goods that need no frosting or buttercream filling." Non-culinary dictionaries define coffeecakes more simply. According to The American Heritage� Dictionary of the English Language coffeecake is a "cake or sweetened bread, often containing nuts or raisins." Wordsmyth English Dictionary also defines coffeecake as a cake or sweet bread with nuts or raisons and adds that coffeecake is usually served with coffee. The WordNet Vocabulary Helper dismisses the nuts and raisons states simply that coffeecake is a "cake or sweet bread usually served with coffee".

What is streusel?
Streusel is a combination of butter, sugar, spices � usually cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and sometimes nuts � that is used as a topping for cakes and cake-type items such as muffins and pancakes. Warming instructions depend upon the type of coffee cake:
All Rum, Whiskey and Liquor Cakes � warm in microwave for approximately 15 seconds per serving.
Sour Cream Coffee Cake: Warm the cake in the oven for about 15 minutes or 15 seconds per slice in the microwave. For a treat, cut into slices, butter each side with soft butter and grill in a frying pan on medium heat until the butter is melted and golden brown.
